Special Issue: “40th Anniversary of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and national maritime laws of states in Asia and Europe”

Dear Colleagues,

The Moscow Journal of International Law (MJIL) invites submission of papers for a Special Issue of the MJIL focused on the analysis of national maritime laws of states in Asia and Europe in light of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The Special Issue of the MJIL is linked to the 40th Anniversary of UNCLOS – the most authoritative source of the modern international law of the sea.

The aim of the issue is to explore the on-going development of this ancient branch of international law (which is of vital significance for both coastal and non-coastal states).

As a priority, the issue is focused on a comparative analysis of the national maritime legislation of Asian and European states in light of the applicable customary and treaty rules of contemporary international law.

The Editorial Board of the MJIL specifically welcomes submission of papers on the current legal issues of shipping, protection of the marine environment and conservation of marine biodiversity, using sub-soil in marine areas, management of fisheries, delimitation of maritime spaces, regulation of economic activities in internal waters, including waters of ports. 

The submission deadline is June 30, 2022

Publication is scheduled for December 2022.

The guest editors for this special issue of the MJIL are :

  • Professor Gutsulyak V.N., Dr. of Law, President of the Russian Association of Maritime Law, Moscow

The submission deadline is June 30, 2022

Publication is scheduled for December 2022.
